Welcome to Adobe Road Winery
Adobe Road is a Petaluma based boutique winery producing artisan wines from premium vineyards in both Sonoma and Napa counties. We maintain collaborative relationships with our growers and carefully select vineyard sites based on their suitability for particular varietals. Our wines are handcrafted in small lots with minimal intervention, including fermentation with native yeasts. We believe that these methods, combined with the distinctive nature of our vineyards, lead to expressive wines of the absolute highest quality.
The 2012 edition of this wine has a deep ruby color with a garnet rim, and fills the glass with enchanting aromas of cherry, red currant, raspberry, dried herbs, and vanilla bean. The fruit forward palate is lighter compared with previous vintages. Red cherries, strawberries, and raspberries mingle with plums, blueberries, and blackberries entice the palate and are accompanied by toasty oak and just enough acidity to make your mouth water.
90 points - "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Bavarian Lion Vineyard is a beautiful Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon showing notes of licorice, graphite, blackcurrants and spice. The wood is used judiciously, the wine full-bodied, rich, ripe and capable of aging for a good 10-15+ years, even though it has a certain accessibility. This is serious Cabernet Sauvignon." -Robert Parker
Culled entirely from a historic site in the heart of Rutherford, this is a deliciously fruity Cab. A perfect gateway to all that Napa Valley has to offer, this wine offers up wonderfully delicate bouquet of fresh berry bramble as well as vanilla bean and just a hint of mint. On the palate, flavors of black currants, blackberries, and dark cherries are exquisitely layered with classic Rutherford Dust as well a smattering of caramel...
90+ points - "The 2013 Proprietary Red Apex has an opaque saturated blackish/blue color. Its dense blackberry, peppery and meaty flavors cut a broad swath across the palate. The wine is full, forceful, pure and shows moderate tannin. This is a big beefy, full-bodied red begging for a grilled steak. Drink it over the next decade or more, because it’s likely to be long-lived." - Robert Parker
Bavarian Lion Vineyard in Knight's Valley provides the perfect growing conditions for Cabernet Franc in Northern California. The volcanic soils combined with the lower temperatures allow the grapes to hang on the vine longer, enabling them to reach full ripeness with added complexity typically not seen for this varietal in California. Soft aromatics dominated by red fruits and hints of violets and rose petal entice...
90 Points - "Plump and jammy, this stays focused, offering appealing notes of black raspberry, orange zest, dark chocolate and spice. Drink now through 2023. 260 cases made." - Wine Spectator
"Offers briary raspberry aromas and ripe, jammy flavors of cooked cherry and fresh pepper. Drink now. 260 cases made." -Wine Spectator
"Ripe and smoky, with cherry pie and pepper aromas that follow through to zesty raspberry and licorice flavors. Drink now through 2016. 800 cases made." -Wine Spectator
Kemp Vineyard is one of the most unique vineyard sites in all of Dry Creek Valley. Perfect sun exposure, high elevation, steep rocky slopes, and overnight fog make for wonderfully complex and rich wines. As a result, the 2013 Syrah has very savory aromatics marked by Christmas spice and violets. Dark fruits show more prominently on the palate and are accompanied by dried herbs and balanced with vanilla, clove...
"Medium ruby with a darker center, the 2013 Grenache Kemp Vineyard accentuates the kirsch, spice box, and sandalwood characteristics that often are part of Grenache’s character. Loads of sweet cherry fruit, medium body, good oomph and power in the back make for a delicious, hedonistic and consumer-friendly wine to drink over the next 4-5 years." -Robert Parker
A podium-topping blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Zinfandel, 17% Syrah, and 9% Petite Sirah, all from the highly rated 2012 vintage, Redline is full-throttle fun for any back-yard party, BBQ, tailgate, or a casual night in with pizza and friends. Aromas of cherries, pomegranate, and raspberries entice the nose, with hints of red stonefruit, black currants, and spice balanced with even tannin and acidity on the palate and a nice little dose of toasty oak on the finish.
90 Points - "Bold, rich, spicy fig and apricot fruit fills out the palate, giving this an unctuous mouthfeel, joined by spicy, toasty oak and ending with a full-bodied finish that echoes the honey and honeydew flavors. Drink now. 297 cases made." – Wine Spectator
A classic Viognier marked by powerful floral aromatics punctuated with aromas of white peach, lime zest, and wet stone. The orchard fruit continues through to the palate, where a voluptuous mouth feel accentuates flavors of both yellow and white peaches with mineral undertones balanced by a refreshing, mouth watering juiciness. An exemplary expression of the varietal in the classic sense.
The sunny days and cool nights that Bavarian Lion Vineyard experiences in Knights Valley are perfect for this rarely seen varietal wine grape. This vintage shows beautiful straw color with pretty aromas of honeycomb, pear and apple, accented with the lightest hint of oak. Crisp Asian pear balanced with rich honeycomb creaminess and fresh minerality are the flavors most apparent in the mouth. Soft and supple on the palate, the 2014 Sémillon begs for hard, salty cheeses and lighter fish dishes. 160 cases produced
Made from a non-traditional blend of varietals, the wine shows wonderful complexity for a Rosé. Fresh crushed strawberry along with bursts of citrus and mint entertain the palate and are duly represented along with beautiful floral scents in the bouquet. Volcanic minerality along with bright acidity results in an encompassing mouthfeel and a dry finish that lingers and refreshes the palate.

- Mark W.
"Adobe Road's tasting room has a nice and relaxed atmosphere and was a great place to kick back and have some tasty wines. Larry behind the bar was very helpful and knowledgeable of their selections."
- Stella O.
"Start with the Cabs which are a little pricer but worth it! Definitely recommend this spot to relax after a day of touring. Great location in the heart of beautiful Petaluma."
- Tristen L.
"You can't go wrong with including Adobe Road on your list of wine tasting stops. I recommend ending up here since they are open a little later and just steps from some amazing local restaurants. Staff is very informative and the atmosphere is "loungy" and relaxing after a long day of hopping around."

Celebrating the great experiences, friendships, and successes over a glass of wine has always been a part of our lives. Wine captures so many wonderful things—a sense of time, of place, of joy—and puts it into a bottle that can be shared with family and friends, both new and old. In our decades of top flight professional racing, we've made friendships and shared memories all over the world, from California to France. And we have seen how the painstaking preparation and attention to detail that goes into wine has a parallel with the same focus we have brought to our championship level racing programs. Both require more than just a careful and scientific approach; both also require a driving passion and vision that takes you beyond simple facts, figures, and hard work. Together with our partners we have worked hard to make sure that each bottle of Adobe Road wine is hand crafted to capture the best of each individual vineyard. We invite you to share these wines as we do, cherishing them with family, friends, and life. Cheers! — Kevin & Debra Buckler
