Zin-Fully Delicious: 2014 Kemp Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley, Zinfandel awarded 90 points in Wine Spectator

When it rains, it pours...Adobe Road is proudly accepting its third 90+ point score in only a matter of months. We are very proud of this Zinfandel and honored to share it with you, our Adobe Road family!

The 2014 Kemp Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel was born in a warm growing season perfect for ripening Zin on the steeply trellised, amphitheater-shaped vineyard hillside. Favorable weather conditions and careful winemaking let the character of this vineyard shine and gain complexity over a year of barrel aging.

While this Zin will age gracefully in your cellar, it won’t last long in our stock! Be sure to order by the case or join the wine club to get our “inside track” pricing!

Kemp Vineyard Syrah brings home more exceptional notoriety

California Syrah has had a roller coaster relationship as a consumer favorite wine over the last three decades and is currently rising in favor again. The key, it seems, has been selecting the right growing location to make wine of character and depth as, like Pinot Noir, it reflects the terroir.

Our Adobe Road Winery Syrah, from the Kemp Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, has been one of our most consistently awarded wines, receiving scores of 90 to 93 in the vintages of 2005, 2007, 2009 and, now again, for the current release 2013. Clearly, this is the right terroir to source our small lot, handcrafted Syrah and we invite you to try it for yourself.

The current day, high-quality Syrahs are displacing some Cabernets as a high-end choice for consumers both at home and in the restaurant. The quality and depth of these wines is amazing but the price tag won’t break the bank. Tim Fish of Wine Spectator wrote: “90 Points - Has a smoky, meaty personality, with jammy but focused flavors and accents of blueberry, huckleberry, mineral and grilled herbs. Drink now through 2028. 113 cases made.”

Another one of our consistently awarded wines the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from Bavarian Lion Vineyard in Knight’s Valley continues racking up the awards with a 90 point score from Robert Parker, a Gold Medal from the San Francisco International Wine Competition and a Feature Article in the Wine Spectator as one of the “9 Enticing California Cabernets." As a tasting room favorite and with only 387 cases made it will be going to Library wine status before long so, with the holidays just around the corner, don’t hesitate to stock up now.

We feel fortunate to live and work in Northern California wine country where we have the privilege to make incredible wines. We are even more fortunate and grateful for your support along the way. Thank you for being part of our family; we couldn’t do it without you!

Adobe Road Winery selected to participate in ultra-exclusive Wine Spectator New York Wine Experience

It is always a good feeling to be a part of something amazing. The global wine community is certainly no exception. Adobe Road Winery is extremely honored to have been asked to take part in Wine Spectator’s ultra-exclusive New York Wine Experience. This three day event is a spectacular showcase of more than 200 of the world’s most unique and notable wine producers. Guided by the estate owners and winemakers themselves, this occasion provides attendees with possibly the most comprehensive wine tasting platform in the world. Adobe Road Chardonnay earns High Regard and 90 points from Wine Spectator

Adobe Road is amongst some Chardonnay stalwarts having received a notable 90 point rating from Wine Spectator for its recently released 2014 Russian River Valley, Baciagalupi Vineyard Chardonnay. Its long awaited return enamored critics with its unctuous caramel and vanilla bean notes, its balanced stone fruit palate, and elegant minerality. It comes as no surprise to wine maker Garrett Martin, and owners Kevin and Debra Buckler, that this bold and delicious white won over judges. As with all of our wines, the care, time and attention put into this rich beauty paid off in spades when the judges tasted it. Our fans have been clamoring for us to produce another award winning Chardonnay, and the wait is over. With holidays quickly approaching and high demand, this is a stunning wine that will be enjoyed by one and all this season. Order now before the supply is gone.

A Personal Note from winery CEO Kevin Buckler

I don't always chime in on the quarterly releases, but I am going to start. I am particularly proud of the wines we are sharing with you, as well as what has been happening with the exciting new winery project in downtown Petaluma on the Riverfront!

This club shipment includes several wines that we are very proud of and introduces you to a couple of new winners! The 2013 Apex is a project that has been near and dear to my heart, as a lover and collector of “cutting edge blends”, and some of the most sought after of the “cult” wines, I feel confident that this will stand toe-to-toe amongst any of those wines. If any of you are lucky enough to be on the mailing lists for any of the new ultra-premium blend wines, I challenge you to taste Apex side-by-side in a blind tasting against some of your favorites. I have taken this challenge personally, even blind tasting the winery staff, and am confident your results will mirror our own and Apex will be one of your new favorites. We worked diligently on this project, selecting some of the best barrels from four different varietals and are really excited with the results. We expect you will be too.

The next two wines are rather unique varietals you don't often see as stand alone, but we have been producing them for the last few years. Viognier is amongst the most valued white wines in any collector’s cellar. It is a difficult grape to craft into a world class wine. Garrett and I worked meticulously together and have got it right with this vintage! Lighter and more delicate than previous vintages, it still has all the characteristic floral notes expected of Viognier, but with graceful creamy fruit and a beautiful finish. Our2013 Grenache is also an incredible expression of the varietal, a lighter bodied red similar to pinot, but with more spice and earth. We produced 132 cases of this special wine, just for our wine club members. You will love this one!

The new project on the downtown Petaluma riverfront is continuing full steam and we are looking forward to demolishing the old building on property and beginning construction on the new. We are thrilled with the stunning new concept our architect has designed and also keeping some of the cool Petaluma traditions.  We are orienting the entire winery and especially our tasting room, visitor center and banquet facilities completely around the waterfront property.  The outdoor patio decks with fire pits and the pizza oven will be a fun and festive location for everyone to enjoy and hope it will be a source of pride when you bring friends, family and colleagues for a tasting at YOUR winery. One of the many great features of this new facility will be a beautiful event center that takes full advantage of our wonderful waterfront location. Please reach out to the wine team if you would like to be on the list to use this facility for a wedding, corporate or other event.

The new tasting room in the Great Petaluma Mill is now complete and the extremely positive feedback from the city and all the residents who have stopped in to congratulate us has been overwhelming.

If anyone has interest in joining our team of investors in this new waterfront winery project, please feel free to reach out to me directly and I will be happy to answer any questions, providemore details, and give you a personal tour of all that we are doing. Several of you already have and we welcome you to this exciting new Partnership.

Thank you all for being part of the "Team Adobe Road Family".

At the Adobe Road tasting room in downtown Petaluma, I’m told that Buckler values the slow and steady process of making wine. As for high points and awards—it doesn’t hurt that Adobe Road wines have scored those, too.

Petaluma leads Sonoma County in economic development

His decision was one example of many in recent years that have made Petaluma the leader in economic development in Sonoma County. It has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the county — 4.1 percent in March — and the second highest median household income, at $75,655 in 2015.
The business activity has rapidly reversed the fortunes of this city of almost 60,000, which was hit with a one-two punch at the turn of the millennium — fallout from the telecom bust of the early 2000s and the real estate crash some six years later. At its low point, commercial office vacancy rates were 40 percent.
