The 2010 vintage in Dry Creek Valley was exceptionally cool for the area, especially around harvest, which resulted in long hang time for the grapes and low yields. This weather pattern allowed our Syrah from Kemp Vineyard to achieve a wonderful balance and complexity of flavor without becoming overripe. Fermented with 100% whole-clusters, and traditionally foot-stomped during the cold soak, it offers lavender, ginger, mint, plum and black raspberry on the nose leading to a silky smooth palate featuring dusty tannins and a subtle meatiness. Wild cherry, cassis, fresh cedar and dried herbs dance across the tongue, building to an extremely intense finish. Enjoy it with roast pork, wild game or Cassoulet.
"Marked by a strong, spicy and minty loamy earth edge, this is dense and tight, with a persistent finish that allows the flavors to fan out. Ends dry and tannic. Drink now through 2022. 230 cases made." -Wine Spectator
