The Zinfandel vines at Kemp Vineyard are planted on the steep slopes of a canyon high in the hills, providing a natural amphitheater that collects sunlight throughout the day. While 2010 was a challenging vintage, with a cool, damp spring and summer followed by heat waves throughout harvest, the natural advantages of this unique site combined with the steady, experienced hands of our grower and winemaker resulted in possibly the best Kemp Zinfandel we've yet produced. Concentrated aromas of candied red cherry, blackberry, sweet spice and leather build to a deliciously fruity palate specked with intriguing earthy and herbal notes. Full and plush in the mouth with tart acidity, the wine finishes with sweet oak flavors of amaretto, maple and milk chocolate. Pair it with bacon-wrapped filet mignon, honey-glazed ham, or a big hunk of dark chocolate.
"Quite ripe, with modest notes of baked cherry, toasted spice and herb. Drink now through 2016. 200 cases made." –Wine Spectator
