2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Knights Valley
After skipping a vintage, the Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is back. Scents of rose petal, cocoa, mint, dark cherry, and raspberry float from the dark, inky, ruby-red body. The Knights Valley Cabernet has always shown a more robust tannin structure, and that is definitely still the case. The tannins are all encompassing, and along with higher acidity, work towards great balance and finesse vis-a-vis the strong notes of cherries, raspberries, leather, tobacco, vanilla, clove, and anise. The long finished is marked by a touch of dark chocolate and caramel which provide the perfect hint of sweetness. This is a Cabernet built for the long haul, best enjoyed after rigorous decanting or 5-15 years in the cellar.

"Lastly, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Bavarian Lion Vineyard is a beautiful Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon showing notes of licorice, graphite, blackcurrants and spice. The wood is used judiciously, the wine full-bodied, rich, ripe and capable of aging for a good 10-15+ years, even though it has a certain accessibility. This is serious Cabernet Sauvignon." -Robert Parker
