Tasting Notes

The Beckstoffer Vineyards Georges III in Rutherford is one of the most prestigious growing regions for cabernet sauvignon in the world. The varying soil types paired with careful selections of rootstock, clone, and row orientation sets the stage for the highest quality fruit yield. In the winery, it’s all about maximizing the extraction of juice from these amazing grapes then patiently aging the wine in barrel for two full years before bottling. This wine exemplifies what is considered classic Rutherford. Vanilla and tobacco on the nose, the rich mouthfeel is loaded with blackberry, chocolate, and savory baking spices. The finish is long and defined with a memory of mocha and dark berries.

Wine Profile
Production Notes
Perfectly moderate and sunny California weather made it all possible in 2014. The vintage showed itself unique and powerful in the dark tannin structures found in the wines from Napa. The concentration of the fruit shone through at harvest, particularly in Rutherford. The picking window was large, allowing for harvest to occur at optimal ripeness.
Winemaker Notes
Respecting the fruit and allowing its full expression is paramount. To that end, the fruit was de-stemmed and pumped to closed top tanks and then soaked, inoculated and fermented with peak temperatures in the high 80 degree Fahrenheit range. Gentle pressing and extended aging in new French oak for 30 months was followed by careful bottling. The concentration and full mouthfeel of this wine speak to the vintage conditions. The wine is fresh, vibrant, perfectly ripe in fruit and tannin. Due to the extended aging, it is well integrated with the oak profile and expressive of its place in Rutherford.
