2017 Grenache, Famighetti Vineyards

Famighetti Vineyards, Dry Creek Valley

Medium ruby in color, the aroma pops with dried strawberries, black tea, and licorice root.  Big flavors of ripe cherry and melon mingle with grilled wild game and savory dried leaves.  Fresh acidity and soft tannins balance the mouthfeel into a smooth finish

At almost 1,000 feet above the Dry Creek Valley floor, Famighetti Vineyards is well positioned to grow incredible grapes.  Mark and Sheila Farmer (and vineyard dog Elsa) put in a tremendous amount of time hand-tending each vine, and the quality shows!  Grenache is prolific and in order to maintain intensity of flavor the crop is heavily thinned, concentrating all the vine’s energy into fewer clusters.  The result is a pure expression of Dry Creek ripeness with extra layers of complexity from elevation, crop thinning, and careful attention to detail.
