The 2019 Rose showcases a vibrant strawberry red color. Aromas of raspberry, fresh picked strawberry, and mango invite you in, and then explode on your palate. Flavors of honeysuckle, violets, ripe melon, and red berries mix with a creamy mouthfeel. All framed with a refreshing, juicy acidity.
Making our rose every year is incredibly satisfying for me because it’s like putting together a liquid jigsaw puzzle. During harvest I pull some juice out of each tank the same day we crush fruit into it. Then I ferment that lightly colored juice as if it was a white wine. At the end of the season I have a palette of rose wines that range in varietal from pinot to petite sirah, in color from bright pink/salmon to deep ruby, in aromas from white flowers to tropical fruit to ripe berries. Then the fun really begins as the barrels are tasted, blended, aged together, tasted, assessed and blended again to create the final expression of Adobe Road Rose.
2019 was a near ideal growing season. A later summer with mild temperatures helped the grapes develop to perfect physiological ripeness without being overloaded with sugar. Great balance of color, acidity, ripeness, aromas and freshness is the hallmark of 2019!
