2018 Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes
This Sauvignon Blanc greets you with freshly cut ripe honeydew aromas and meyer lemon zest. The mouthfeel is broad and weighty while retaining a focus on juicy acidity and freshness. Flavors of key lime pie have a floral lift into the long finish detailed with tropical notes.
Winemaker’s Notes
Comprised of 100% Sauvignon blanc fruit from the Bavarian Lion Vineyard in Knights Valley, sonoma county, this wine is a pleasure to make because of the fine-tuned details that are influenced by winemaking choices. All clusters are gently hand picked and whole cluster pressed to retain freshness. Fermentation happens in both used and carefully selected new French oak barrels to impart creamy mouthfeel and aromatic elements. Multiple yeasts are employed to express a variety of flavor components. After fermentation each barrel is assessed for its potential to be included in the final blend. A few months later the final blend is made, and the wine is tightly sealed into stainless steel barrels, allowing the flavors to marry while protecting the wine from oxygen before bottling.
The Vintage
2018 vintage allowed for picking at the perfect moment. Throughout Sonoma County and Napa, moderate weather lead to perfectly ripe grapes. As always, the quality work of our vineyard partners set the stage for incredible wines to be made!
