2019 Pinot Noir Sangiacomo Vineyard, Roberts Road
LA Invitational Wine & Spirits Challenge:
This Pinot pours a dark ruby in the glass, a nod to the Petaluma Gap intensity of fruit. Aromas and flavors of ripe melon, fresh flowers, and cinnamon stick mix with a savory elegance of black tea leaves and forest floor. Finely balanced with fresh acidity and smooth tannins, this is a Pinot packed with flavor!
Making wine from Roberts Road Vineyard is all about showcasing the site through the perfect blend of clones. We combine Pommard, 115, and 777 in a co-fermentation to fully express the flavor of this windswept Petaluma Gap vineyard. Barrel aging on lees for 15 months develops the aromatics, rounds the mouthfeel, and harmonizes the wine.
2019 at the Roberts Road Vineyard was slightly warmer than 2018, but still allowed ample hang time to develop complex flavors and fully ripe grapes. As always, the incredible work by the Sangiacomo family set the stage for a delicious wine to be made!
